The Regular CNS school program is supplemented by periodic special events. In the past there have been visits by:
CNS has a strong relationship with the community of Wayland and Natick. Throughout the year, children visit different places within the Wayland community such as the pond, fire house, bank, Cochituate Nursing Home, and post office.
CNS still celebrates many of the holidays during the school year. The students are encouraged to participate in the Halloween parade to the neighboring businesses. There is a Thanksgiving Feast which the students learn about the holiday and participate in a "traditional" feast. We also celebrate both Christmas, with visits from Mrs. Claus and Santa Claus, and Hannukah with parent visits to help teach the children the importance of this holiday.
Two special events for parents include the Father’s Breakfast and the Mother’s Morning. Both events give the children a wonderful opportunity to perform a musical program, proudly show their schoolwork and share a special meal with their Dad at Father’s Breakfast and with Mom at Mother’s Morning.
Parents are encouraged to share their special interests and talents with the children. We welcome all parents to our classrooms whether visiting as a Mystery Reader or to attend a birthday celebration, sharing a special activity with us or sharing a profession or hobby with the children.
